T H E M E A N I N G B E H I N D T H E S C U L P T U R E
The main parts of the sculpture are shaped like large planters with vibrant green vegetation. This represents the continuous growth of Greenville, South Carolina. From what once was a small town, grew into the fourth fastest growing city in America.
The reflective surface of the stepping stones celebrates the reflection of the surrounding environment, the atmosphere, and the visitor. The circular concrete garden stools provide seating for visitors to reflect on themselves, view the sculpture form a different perspective or relax and watch the Reedy River. Solar powered lights will be utilized on a vine connecting the large columns. The mixture of wood, concrete, stone and metal will catch the visitor’s eye as they pass through this beautiful city. The Board of the City of Greenville will be able to change the color of the lights for special occasions along with adding annual floral arrangements. This organic sculpture is sustainable by the use of recycled materials, vegetation, and solar powered lighting.
Overall, this sculpture, is giving back to the environment and the community.
